Newfane Vermont Flea Market

Posted by Tim on Jun 02 2008 | Southern Vermont

Newfane Flea MarketSo I took a trip up to Newfane, Vermont this Sunday to check out the Newfane Flea Market. This outdoor market is seasonal (open from May through October) and has a great range of vendor tables selling everything from antique tools and milk bottles to brand new sweat socks. Even Anons Thai was there (by far my favorite Thai food in the area). The market is set up in a large field,(…)

Posted by Tim on May 26 2008 | At the Inn, Brattleboro, Outdoors

Hogle Wildlife SanctuarySo our inn, Forty Putney Road Bed and Breakfast, backs up to a nice trail along the water that is apparently called the “Hogle Wildlife Sanctuary”. In doing some research I cant seem to find any reference to the history of this sanctuary online.

Sugaring Time in VT

Posted by Tim on Mar 16 2008 | Southern Vermont, Winter

Maple Syrup TapsIts sugaring time again in Vermont. For those who don’t know, that the time of year when the maple sap runs from the trees into buckets all over the state, waiting to be collected and “cooked” into delicious maple syrup. The smell (as I am sure you can imagine) is amazing. Several sugar houses offer tours and demonstrations in our area. We took a ride

Some of America’s Best Pancakes!

Posted by Tim on Feb 11 2008 | At the Inn, Innkeeping

Amy recently entered the “Pancakes with Personality” competition sponsored by Bed and Breakfast.com. She made it all the way to the semi finals, where she received third place for her Almond Amaretto Pancakes! While we were disappointed that she didn’t win her deserved first :) it was exciting to be even recognized among so many seasoned innkeepers! Over 100

Skiing at Mount Snow

Posted by Tim on Dec 17 2007 | Outdoors, Southern Vermont, Winter

With all of the great snow that we have been getting, the mountains are all open and the conditions are great! We made it out to Mount Snow this past weekend (Mount Snow is an easy 20 minute ride from here on the well cleared Route 9). The conditions were great and almost the whole mountain was open (rare for this early in the season). After
